After a year and a half, the whole world is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, the fight is far from over, with new, more contagious variants spreading quickly all over the world. And for many people, this may also mean still spending a lot of time at home.
But what if you’re already getting tired of just being stuck at home for the better part of your waking hours? Well, no need to worry. You can do many things to make staying at home more bearable and even enjoyable for you and your family. Take a look at three ways to do this.
Make your home inviting
Staying at home is going to be a lot easier if your house looks and feels nice. And one straightforward way to achieve this is by making your house clean and tidy. For starters, ask everyone to sort out their stuff into what they want to keep, throw away, and donate so that you can declutter your home. Then, bring out the brooms, dustpans, mops, scrub brushes, squeegees, cleaning cloths, and what have you and make your home sparkling clean! For good measure, you can also get an indoor air purifier to make even the air your family breathes clean.
But why stop at just making your home clean and tidy? Give your home a makeover to make it more appealing! You can, for one, rearrange the furniture in your home, especially in the living room, to give your house a fresh look. For example, you can have the family’s treasured piano moved to the other side of the living room. Then, if everyone in the family is up for it, give the walls of your house a fresh coat of paint, which will surely work wonders for your home’s appearance.
Get equipment for your home
Another way to make being stuck at home easier is by getting the tools, devices, and supplies you’ll need and want at your disposal. For example, you won’t have to go to the gym anymore if you already have the workout equipment you need, like a weight bench set, a treadmill, a rowing machine, or even a home gym, in your very own house. Or if you’ll be working or running your business from home, make things easier for you by setting up a home office, complete with an ergonomic desk and chair, printer, extra computer monitor, etc.
And now you get to the more fun part. After getting the things you need, you can also splurge a little to buy the stuff you and your family want. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could sit back and relax in a recliner with massage and heat after a hectic day at home? The kids will surely appreciate an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5 upgrade to their game console. Or, if they’re more into sports, get the kids a Ping-Pong or pool table to get their competitive juices flowing while at home. And for sure, everyone in the family will enjoy binge-watching on a 50-inch 8K HDR smart TV with a home cinema soundbar system.
Have fun home activities
Spending time at home will also be easier if you make activities at home fun. Of course, these activities include household chores. Washing the dishes, for one, won’t feel like a chore for the kids if you play music and sing at the top of your lungs with them while they finish their tasks. Baking will be more fun if you let everyone design their own cookies or cupcakes. And a little water gun fight while washing the car or bathing the family pooch will surely be a blast for everyone.
Aside from ordinary home activities like chores, you can plan special activities for the family as well. For instance, plan a camping night in your backyard from time to time. Set up a tent, build a small fire, roast marshmallows, tell ghost stories, gaze at the stars, and do most of the things you would if you were actually on a camping trip. The special activity can be something simple too. Maybe you can make everyone in the family look forward to lunch every Sunday by having a “Cookout Sunday.”
Make Being Stuck at Home Manageable
After more than a year of being stuck at home, it’s normal to feel antsy or bored. But you and your family don’t always have to feel this way. You can make your home more inviting, get some home equipment, and have fun home activities to make staying at home more manageable and maybe even fun for you and your family.
